Freelancers may work independently, but they still want to be part of a community. Here is where freelance events come in. Both digital and live, the tradition of friendly and educational events for the freelance community has existed long before the Covid-19 pandemic caused an online events boom. If you are worried about missing out, we have created a list of the most exciting events to fill up both your calendar and your knowledge gaps.

Freelance Business Month (Global, online)

1-31 October 2024 

The Freelance Business Month is the largest event for freelancers. It takes place each October and for 31 days it gathers all the members of the freelance community – independent professionals, platforms, expert speakers and writers, business owners, and other players in the freelance economy. This year, expect 80+ speakers, who will host many sessions on relevant topics – pricing, promotion, branding, finances, community, starting, growing and more. Freelance Unlocked  (Germany)

15-16 May 2024

National Freelancers Day (UK)

20 June 2024

Each year, the IPSE organises the National Freelancers Day. It is a celebration of all things freelance, and an opportunity for self-employed people across the country to look to the year ahead. Expect keynotes, webinars, workshops and networking on topics relevant to the freelance lifestyle. The 2022 event is now over, but you can access the recordings on their website here.

Freelancer Summit (Belgium)

17 October 2024

If you are located in Belgium, you can enjoy the Day of the Freelancer event, which will include a full day of interesting keynotes aimed at  freelancers. The central theme of the event will be “Finance? That’s how you do it!”. It will include presentations, as well as reports, breakout sessions and networking pauses and it is one of the best ways to get to know the freelancing landscape in Belgium. More information here.

CopyCon (UK)

8 November 2024

If you are freelancing in the writing/ marketing/ content field, then CopyCon is the event for you! Organised by the ProCopywriters community, the conference will compromise of eight great speakers, plus workshops and networking breaks. If you can’t attend the event, you can get video access. The event will also include four remote day-long trainings in small groups, which are sold separately. More information here.

European Freelancers Week 

14-18 October 2024

The #EFWeek is a movement and celebration of the freelance ecosystem in Europe. For a week during our Freelance Business Month (see above), #EFWeek will generate recognition of the value freelancers bring to the economy, facilitate community building and connection, highlight challenges freelancers face (and innovative solutions), showcase the international freelance ecosystems and more! You can read and sign their manifesto, which is bringing the attention of governments, businesses, and other stakeholders in the European economy to the changing face of work. The Indie List Freelancers Sessions

Monthly

Happening one a month, these online meet-ups are packed with information. Over the past few years, The Indie List has hosted a broad and insightful range of informal advice, learning and networking sessions for members of our community. Topics have ranged from ‘making the most of your billable time’ to minimising your tax bill’. See more here.
